Globalization - What is this? As per wikipedia, this is the definition "Globalization refers to the increasing unification of the world's economic order through reduction of such barriers to international trade as tariffs, export fees, and import quotas". So, based on this, globalization should help both trade partners. It is meant to be mutually beneficial. But I feel, Globalization is a modern way of killing developing and not developed countries by developed countries. So, let me expand more on this. It is human nature to fall in love with anything that we do not posses or when it is in our neighbor's possession. Also, most of us think that the products and life style in rich a neighborhood or country is always enjoyable and more over we think they are of good quality. Due to this, in the name of globalization, rich and developed countries trade( I am not sure this is the right word ) one way. Unfortunately, developed countries attract the poor countries with their attractive products by brand name and powerful marketing. To name few products - McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Dominos Pizza, Pepsi, Coke, Starbucks and list never ends. Let us take India as an example. India is one of richest countries in the world but yet a developing country.As per Wikipedia, India had a policy of near-autarky that began after its establishment as an independent state, around 1950, and ended in 1991. India had everything they needed to be self sufficient. Let us take few examples - especially food. Indians always had an healthy and balanced diet. Indians have been living with this healthy diet for thousands of years and then came this globalization. Now, Indians are so obsessed with foreign made food and drinks - Thanks to their sexy marketing. Developed countries are slowly invading these developed countries and infiltrating with their products. People who know Indian products might be aware of the brand names like Bajaj, Ambassador, Limca, Torino, Ashok Leyland and so on..Now, invisible invasion has destroyed all these local manufacturers. We give business to foreign product manufacturers and they take the profit back to their country while we not only close all our local shops but slowly start depending on these foreign made products. BTW IMFL( Indian Made Foreign Liquors ) killed the local liquor industry. What was wrong with olden days when India was self sufficient in their needs. Why do we need globalization? Are we slowly giving away our strength and wealth unknowingly to the super power of this world? If this continues, the day is not very far where there will be only one ruler in this world and that will be none other than our big brother. Yes - Globalization is nothing but civilized Invasion.
